frogHow Making TRACKS Works

  • Citizen Scientists (you!) can volunteer to identify species and interesting sights on your favorite trails.
  • Read about how to get started with data collection.
  • Download data collection sheets.
  • Make a list on your data sheet of the species you saw on the trail. Also record interesting things to look for, what the terrain is like, the distance of the hike, and even a description of what kinds of habitats you pass through while hiking. Point out animal signs, views and waterfalls and other things to look for.
  • Add your Trail to the Making TRACKS database.
  • Your information and species list will be compiled into a nature guide that anyone can download and take with them on the trail.
  • Trail information can be updated. Add new species found over time.
  • Thanks for taking part in developing this great resource.
