Trailhead Location: In the town of Buena Vista there is one stoplight. From this stoplight head west on Highway 306. Take this road for 4.75 miles where you will see a parking lot on the right side of the highway. This is the trailhead. This is an excellent trailhead for those without high clearance vehicles as the road and parking lot are all paved.

Hike Description: From the parking lot, hike for 1.25 miles to an intersection. Turn right here towards Mount Yale. This trail takes you all the way to the summit. There is a steep section just before the final ridge. Stay left, ignoring the many other trails on it. Once on the ridge, follow it to the summit. This is a difficult hike up the ridge. Stay to the right on the ridge (north side) for the best route.
